Ship No.735, 40,000-ton deadweight type stainless chemical tanker was held at Hachinohe port, Kawaragi”A” public quay on March 27, 2026.

The 40,000-ton deadweight chemical tanker, SNo.735, ordered by the domestic shipowner, has been named “BOW ERIKSON” by the charterer and sailed out to Ulsan, South Korea for bunkering. After that, she will cross the Pacific Ocean and load the chemical cargo in the United States then, bounds to Europe for operations. The ship name, “ERIKSON,” is derived from Leif Erikson, the renowned Norwegian explorer who crossed the Atlantic Ocean by ship 1,000 years ago and was the first to discover the North American continent.

The charterers traveled long way from Norway and Brazil to attend the ceremony. The shipowner joined us from Ehime Prefecture, and we were honored to welcome guests from Tokyo and Miyagi. We were also honored by the presence of the Norwegian Ambassador and representatives from various financers. Furthermore, the local medias also attended the event and interviewed the vessel’s energy-saving capabilities.

The vessel “BOW ERIKSON” is the first memorable ship in the 40,000-ton deadweight super eco-chemical tanker project. The cargo tank feature duplex stainless steel and 28 segregations configuration incorporating the center cofferdam. Also, the vessel is installed the new hull line without the bulbous bow, the gate rudder system, aerodynamic superstructure, and four vent foils serve as wind-assisted devices on the deck. Finally, the vessel achieved Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) standard of 50% as the latest designed eco-tanker.

We sincerely hope this super eco-tanker “BOW ERIKSON” will become the treasure ship for the shipowner and all attendees.
