Naming and delivery ceremony for SNo.716 / 40,000DWT type bulk carrier “KARLA BULKER” was held at our Toyosu Works.

We are pleased to announce that Hull No. 716, the 40,000 DWT type bulk carrier ordered by LEPTA SHIPPING, was successfully delivered to its owner on June 27, 2025, after being named “KARLA BULKER” by the vessel’s charterer. The vessel has since departed for its first port of call, Busan, South Korea, for bunkering. Following this, it will proceed to China and transport various cargoes worldwide.

The naming and delivery ceremony was successfully held under clear blue skies, with favorable weather. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the guests who traveled long distances from Denmark, Singapore, and Tokyo to attend. It was particularly memorable to see the crew members waving enthusiastically until the very end as they departed, bid farewell by our guests.

The KARLA BULKER is the 11th vessel in our series of twelve 40,000 DWT bulk carriers. This eco-friendly vessel is equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system (SOx scrubber), an M0 system that clears Phase 3 of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) regulations for newbuilds, and complies with the IMO Tier III NOx emission limits (an 80% reduction from Tier I limits) set by the MARPOL Annex VI air pollution regulations. It also features log stanchions on both sides, providing versatility for a wide range of cargo types.

We sincerely hope that the KARLA BULKER will safely navigate the world’s oceans, connecting countless people and goods. May it also become a “treasure ship,” bringing happiness to everyone who sails on her, supports her, and is involved with her in any way.
