We held the naming and delivery ceremony for S725, brand new 600,000CFTrefrigerated cargo carrier at our Toyosu Works on 21st November 2025. We were able to celebrate the delivery of this vessel under crisp air of early winter.

This S725 ordered by a major domestic refrigerated carrier has been named “PONGA” by New Zealand charterer and has departed Hachinohe for the first port, Tokyo. “PONGA” means “silver fern” in the Maori language, symbolizing New Zealand’s “strength” and “endurance.” The vessel’s primary operation route will involve transporting premium kiwifruit from New Zealand to East Asia. After departing Hachinohe, the vessel bounds to Chile in South America via Tokyo bunkering and transporting fruits such as grapes to the East Coast of the United States.

The shipowner visited from Tokyo, and the charterer traveled from New Zealand to attend the ceremony. As the shipyard, we express our heartfelt gratitude for all attendees.

“PONGA” is the second ship of 600,000cft type refrigerated cargo carrier project and is equipped with the latest Controlled Atmosphere(CA) technology in the cargo holds, new SOx scrubber system for environmental friendliness, and is also satisfied with IMO NOx Tier-III regulations. In addition, the vessel can onboard 154 of 40 feet reefer containers on the deck. Also, 40t and 8t hydraulic deck cranes can handle speedy loading of containers and cargo pallets at the various ports in New Zealand and East Asia.

We, shipyard hopes “PONGA” will be a treasured vessel for all attendees under the current positive global fruits logistics in the world. We will keep continue to make efforts to provide high-quality merchant vessels for owners and global operators.
