Ship
S-717, 40-type bulk carrier was sailed out from Toyosu Works, Northern quay on 25th September, 2025.
S-717, named “KATJA BULKER” was ordered by Singaporean owner and safely delivered on 25th September, 2025. The vessel sailed out for Busan, South Korea to take the bunker at there and then, will bounds for China for first cargo.
For the vessel delivery, the shipowner graciously visited us from Singapore and witnessed the ship’s sail out. As a shipyard, we express our gratitude for owner.

“KATJA BULKER” is the twelfth vessel in series of 40-type bulk carriers project and is equipped with SOx scrubber for environmental friendliness, and is equipped with Unmanned operation(M0)system that satisfies EEDI Phase-3 regulations. Furthermore, the ship adapts to NOx Tier3 regulation that represents the NOx reduction of about 80% from the NOx Tier 1 limit. Of cause, the log stanchions are installed at both side of the deck and are characterized by wide range capability for various cargoes such as coals, grains, logs and others.

This “KATJA BULKER” will be the final vessel in our 12-ship 40-type bulk carrier project. We sincerely thank you for your continued support. We pray this ship becomes a treasure ship for the shipowner and all involved parties under the current positive shipping market. We, Kitanihon Shipbuilding will focus on building 40-type stainless chemical tankers and container/refrigerated ships to meet global merchant ship newbuilding trends.
